Hi, I'm Hitesh.
Qualified with a Bachelor of Design Degree, and a Graduate Diploma of Business in Marketing, I am a Graphic Designer, with a foundation in Marketing - and therefore I'm a designer who offers a much greater depth of capability.
Most recently I was a Graphic Designer in the Marketing department at HELLA New Zealand and previously I was the Senior Designer for The Derek Corporation Ltd and I have worked as a freelance designer.
My experience shows that I have an ability to be flexible and adaptable, to take projects from inception to implementation and effectively use creative and analytical skills to develop innovative, well presented, strategic solutions for a diverse range of business situations.
Adept in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, traditional analogue creative tools, and having had a broad scope of projects has resulted in a portfolio of diverse work, which includes product design, packaging, product catalogues, promotional material, brand design, illustration, product photography, website design, written and visual web content, web content management and digital marketing strategy.

Brand strategy is a big picture approach to business, it's about how a business consciously and actively manages the way they are perceived by their target audience/s, and engage with them. When done well, this can add a premium value to their offering, creating a stronger differentiation between themselves and their competitors, allowing the ability to have greater price markup, and to insulate themselves a bit from adverse market conditions. An example I often give of how this works, is where a jacket with a swoosh logo can command a much greater value than one without a logo. The product can be virtually identical, but the brand aware and loyal customer is willing to pay the greater value difference for the item with a swoosh. All product/service offerings, and competitive landscapes are different, they cater to different markets and market segments; by creating a solid brand strategy, you can more easily set yourself apart from competitors, making a unique place for yourself in the market in which you compete.

Graphic design is an aspect of a brand strategy and creates the visual aesthetics which embody the greater strategy. If I were to use an analogy - where Brand Strategy is the brain governing all functions and personality, design is really just the face of the brand. When thinking of it this way, you can see that if the brain isn't well developed, the design may look good, but because it doesn't align well with the intent of the business, the strategy, the way the business values and manages it's offerings can potentially become a bit disfunctional.
As a designer, the strategist in me will always try to ensure we are looking to the bigger picture, because building value is the greater goal.
